Ford Motor Company Setting New Automotive Trends

In the early 20th century, Ford Motor Company set automotive trends with vehicles like the Model A and Model T. The legendary automaker continues to set trends with its innovative lineup of fuel-efficient vehicles like the Escape Plug-in Hybrid and Maverick pickup truck. The automaker also set a new automotive standard in electrified mobility with the Ford F-150 Lightning truck and Ford Mustang Mach-E. You’ll find the latest Ford hybrid and electric vehicles at Ford of Port Richey near Hernando Beach and Tay.

The Fuel-Efficient Hybrid Lineup

Ford sells several vehicles with fuel-efficient hybrid vehicles with mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. These models have a gas-powered engine and at least one electric motor for an additional fuel-saving power boost. The Ford Escape is available with a hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain – both with a continuous variable automatic transmission.

Both hybrid Escape models have a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, and the hybrid model adds an electric motor and a small lithium-ion battery pack. The Plug-in Hybrid model has a 14.4-kWh battery and a larger electric motor. The Escape Hybrid has 192 horsepower and an EPA-estimated fuel rating of 42/36 MPG. The PHEV has 210 horsepower, an all-electric range of 37 miles, and a combined EPA-estimated fuel rating of 40 MPG.

The Ford F-150 is available with several powertrains, most notably a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 paired with an electric motor. The hybrid powertrain delivers 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque. The F-150 with the hybrid powertrain is available in the XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum trims.

Fully-Electric Ford Cars and Trucks

Along with the Ford hybrid cars and trucks, the automaker also offers several electric vehicles. These vehicles have large battery packs and one or more electric vehicles. The popular Ford electric car is the Mustang Mach-E, which is available with two battery packs: Standard Range with 70-kWh and Extended Range with 91-kWh. Both come with standard rear-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive is available.

The Extended Range Mustang Mach-E gets up to 310 miles on a full charge, while the Standard Range models get between 224 and 247 miles per charge.

The F-150 Lightning is the automaker’s electric full-size truck and comes standard with two electric motors and a 98-kWh battery pack. The full-size truck is available with an extended-range battery pack with a 131-kWh battery pack. The base F-150 Lightning has a zippy 0-to-60 time of 4.1 seconds.
