Fuel-Efficient Hybrid Powertrain

The new 2025 Ford Maverick has two engine options. The standard engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This configuration delivers 238 horsepower and a 5.9-second 0-60 MPH time. The second is the 2.5-liter four-cylinder paired with an electric motor and a continuously variable transmission. The hybrid powertrain delivers 191 horsepower and can tow up to 4,000 pounds when equipped with a Towing Package.

Both engines have standard front-wheel drive, but both have available all-wheel drive – a new option for the hybrid model. Drivers who choose the all-new Lobo trim get the turbocharged engine with a special seven-speed automatic with steering-wheel paddle shifters. The special new trim also has 19-inch rally wheels and a lowered suspension.

The hybrid Maverick might have lower horsepower than the turbocharged engine, but the impressive fuel rating makes the horsepower drop worth it. The EPA-estimated fuel rating for the hybrid Maverick is 42 MPG in the city and 33 MPG on the highway, thanks to regenerative braking features. The turbocharged engine delivers 23/30 MPG.

What’s New in the Ford Maverick

Ford upgraded several features in the 2025 Maverick. First, they made wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard on all trims. All trims also have a standard Wi-Fi hotspot. The automaker also increased the size of the infotainment screen, so it measures 13.2 inches. Optional tech features include SiriusXM Satellite Radio, wireless charging, and an upgraded sound system.

The automaker also added more standard driver-assistance features. All trims have Lane-Keep Assist, Automatic High-Beam Headlights, and Adaptive Cruise Control. The upper-level Lariat and Tremor trims get Lane-Centering Assist and Traffic-Sign Recognition.
