Popular Compact Pickup With an Affordable Price Tag
As drivers look for smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles, the Ford Maverick has become a popular choice. The 2024 Ford Maverick is an attractive, compact pickup with a peppy powertrain and plenty of high-tech features. The 2024 model year is similar to the 2023 Maverick but with a few subtle changes. The new Maverick is still available with a hybrid powertrain, as well as the impressive 2.0-liter EcoBoost. The small size doesn’t limit the Maverick, as drivers will appreciate its substantial cargo space and impressive towing capability. Drivers around Port Richey and Hernando Beach can explore the 2024 Maverick at Ford of Port Richey.
Minor Changes to the 2024 Maverick Powertrain
The 2024 Maverick is built upon the same platform as the Bronco Sport and Ford Escape but has more power and capability. The standard powertrain in the 2024 model is the turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine. It has 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque, front-wheel drive, and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The EPA has not evaluated the 2024 Maverick’s fuel rating, but the 2023 models with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost had an EPA-estimated fuel rating of 22/29 MPG.
The optional powertrain is a 2.5-liter mild-hybrid four-cylinder engine with an electronic continuously variable transmission. The Maverick hybrid powertrain was standard on the 2023 models, and the big change for the 2024 model year is the change to the EcoBoost as the standard powertrain. All-wheel drive is available for both engines.
The unibody pickup truck comes with the SuperCrew four-door cabin with seating for five. When properly equipped with the Max Tow Package, the Maverick tows up to 4,000 pounds. The impressive towing capacity is enhanced by the 1,500 payload capacity in the 4-foot-6-inch bed.
Safety Technology in Ford Maverick
The 2024 Ford Maverick changes only apply to the powertrain. Ford continues to offer the Maverick XL and XLT with plenty of safety features, including the available Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist package. Standard safety features include Forward Collision Warning, Forward Automatic Emergency Braking, LED Headlights with Automatic High-Beams, and a Rearview Camera.
The available Co-Pilot 360 package adds Blind-Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane-Departure Warning, and Lane-Keep Assist. The Lariat trim has available Rear Parking Sensors and Adaptive Cruise Control.
Infotainment and Convenience Technology
The 2024 Ford Maverick price starts under $24,000, making it one of the most affordable compact pickups in today’s market – especially compared to the Hyundai Santa Cruz and Honda Ridgeline. The Maverick XL comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, two USB ports, and six speakers. It also has remote keyless entry, single-zone air conditioning, and a locking tailgate. A 120-volt household outlet is available. The Maverick XLT comes with the same features and adds an exterior keypad and a power-locking tailgate.
The top trim, the Maverick Lariat, adds two rear-seat USB ports, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, dual-zone climate control, and ambient lighting. Drivers can add the Lariat Luxury package with navigation, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, wireless smartphone charging, and an eight-speaker B & O sound system.
Styling Features and Trim Levels
The 2024 Maverick is available in three well-equipped trim levels. The entry-level XL features two-toned cloth upholstery with manually adjustable front seats and 17-inch steel wheels. The XLT trim adds an in-bed cargo compartment and 17-inch alloy wheels. Shoppers can add several packages including the XLT Luxury package with heated power-adjustable front seats, a heated steering wheel, and LED bed lighting.
The Maverick Lariat is the top trim. It features synthetic leather upholstery with a power-adjustable driver’s seat and a power-sliding rear window. The Lariat trim has ambient interior lighting and 18-inch alloy wheels.
